How it works
- Open the Live tab and add a Camera tile to your ride screen.
- Choose Insta360 and connect to the camera.
- Ride — the picture, snapshot and record are all on the dashboard.
Questions riders ask
- Which cameras work?
- The X-series — X3, X4 and X5. The app talks to the camera's own live-preview stream, so no cloud account and no cable are involved.
- Can I do this in a phone browser instead?
- No, and it isn't a limitation we can lift. The camera sends its live view as a raw video stream over a plain socket, and JavaScript in a browser has no way to open one. That's the whole reason the feature lives in the app.
- My phone joins the camera's Wi-Fi — do I lose mobile data?
- No. The camera's network has no internet of its own, so the app pins only the camera stream to that Wi-Fi and leaves everything else — your group, the map, telemetry — on mobile data.
- Can I still record to the camera as normal?
- Yes. Start and stop recording to the camera's own card from the bars, and grab a snapshot into your ride log at the same time. The footage stays on the camera for you to edit as usual.
- It says my build can't talk to a camera — why?
- Camera support is recent, so an older install won't have it. Update to the latest version of the app and the Camera tile will offer Insta360.
